“Today’s executive nurse leaders influence both organizational success and the patient experience,” says Joan Kavanagh, PhD, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Cleveland Clinic Nursing Education and Professional Development. “In our complex healthcare landscape, it takes knowledge and determination to learn how to be drivers of and contributors to the senior hospital leadership team.”

The Executive Nurse program “Achieving Nursing Excellence through Leadership” will take place November 4-6 at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. The course is designed to help nurse leaders cultivate their professional and personal brands so they can develop a strong executive profile. The program will include lectures, panel discussions and private question-and-answer sessions with several executive nurse leaders from Cleveland Clinic.

Attendees will increase business acumen with performance metrics and continuous improvement methods, and they will be invited to take a closer look at their advocacy efforts so they can get to a place of influence at the highest levels of organizational leadership. Attendees will also have a chance for behind the scenes tours of Cleveland Clinic, with the program taking place in the dynamic new inter-professional educational setting at Samson Pavilion.

“We are excited to present this program to aspiring nurse executives,” says Kavanagh. “It’s really about enhancing your ability to assess your performance, communicate expectations, and energize others to produce superior outcomes.”
