The deluge of available healthcare tools and technology can overwhelm even the most savvy IT experts and clinicians. Not Edward Marx, CIO of Cleveland Clinic, who was recently named to the 100 Great Leaders in Healthcare list by Becker’s Hospital Review. Marx will share his expertise and strategies in an upcoming intensive course from Cleveland Clinic Global Executive Education, The Cleveland Clinic Way: Technology and Innovation Intensive.

“There’s no better way to learn best practices in healthcare IT than from the lived experiences of an innovative healthcare system,” says Marx. “This program allows us to share our knowledge and help improve the patient and caregiver experience at an international level.” Marx is a Fellow of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). He is on the CHIME Faculty for the CIO Boot Camp, training aspiring healthcare technology professionals.

The course offers participants direct access to Cleveland Clinic’s administrative and clinical leaders, including Marx, in an open and transparent environment. The program gives a unique perspective into one of the world’s most advanced healthcare technology enterprises.

The three-day program provides a strong foundation in healthcare IT, offers insights into creating an organizational structure and facing challenges like cyber security, and gives an in-depth look at Cleveland Clinic’s unique tools and processes.

Sample courses include:

  • Analytic Strategies – leveraging advanced data analytics to support clinical and operational business decisions
  • Design Thinking – A culture of true problem definition and continuous improvement
  • Legal Challenges – HIT in the Cloud
  • Commercialization Potential – Innovations at CCF
  • Patient access = MyChart, patient-centered data, access to care
