Anterior Tibial Subluxation — Not Knee Rotation — May Be the Primary Mechanism of ACL Tears

A study of bone bruise patterns after ACL rupture has shown more damage to a knee’s medial compartment than conventionally thought. This and other findings indicate that the mechanism of ACL injury is more likely straight anterior subluxation of the tibia rather than rotational force.
